It rolled over for three weeks without a winner, but the jackpot of over £52 million was finally claimed by two lucky winners last night (Friday 16th January 2010).
The life changing amount was claimed by two winners, one from the UK and one from Europe, who managed two match all 5 main numbers and both lucky star numbers to claim the most valuable prize. The winning numbers can be found at the Euro Millions Results website as can the winning number for the Millionaire Raffle Game.
Understandably, there was a ticket buying frenzy before the draw from players hoping their dreams of winning were about to come true. It always amuses me to hear that ticket sales increase dramatically whenever there is a rollover. It’s almost as if the usual jackpot of around £13 million is not enough for some people and they’ll only purchase a Euromillions lottery ticket when there’s at least £50 million on offer. Thirteen million would do me very nicely, thank you very much!
So, there is now one very lucky Brit who is now over £26 million better off and also one very happy European who undoubtedly is as happy as the British player.
Rollovers seem to be increasing in frequency for some reason, although it may just be the media frenzy that occurs at each multiple rollover that makes it seem that way.
Not wanting to be left out of things, the UK Lotto has also rolled over this week so if you had no luck in last night’s draw, you can try again tonight with the UK Lotto. At £1 a ticket, it’s well worth investing in even if the jackpot is smaller and there’s no additional Millionaire Raffle to make things a little more interesting.
I’ve got my eye on a very nice house, with a swimming pool that is presently just out of my budget at 2.5 million, so I’m banking on a win tonight to secure the home of my dreams. Oh well, one can hope.
I certainly will be playing all my lottery entries through a syndicate to increase my chances to the maximum. It’s a great way of playing with other like minded people, who appreciate the benefits of playing through a carefully structured online syndicate. I also like to play the Happi 6 Lotto game which has increased chances of winning a prize.
The structure of some syndicates also ensures you are over three and a half thousand percent more likely to win the Euromillions and over seven hundred percent more likely to win the UK Lotto. These are proven figures that are not to be sniffed at if you are serious about playing the lottery.
So roll on tonight, get those UK Lotto balls out of the machine, but just make sure the numbers on the balls match the numbers on your ticket. That’s all it takes to change your life forever. Good luck.
